Kamala Harris criticizes Trump for falsely claiming to be the ‘father of IVF’

[ad_1]
Vice President Kamala Harris criticized former President Donald Trump for his recent comments on in vitro fertilization (IVF) and his administration’s impact on abortion restrictions. She called Trump’s remarks “bizarre” and highlighted the harm caused to couples seeking IVF treatment due to his policies. Harris argued that Trump’s actions, such as appointing Supreme Court justices who supported overturning Roe v. Wade, have been harmful to women and families. Trump had made comments on IVF during a town hall event, where he also expressed support for IVF and praised abortion becoming a state-level issue post-Roe v. Wade. Abortion has been restricted or banned in over 20 states since the ruling. IVF gained attention in February when an Alabama Supreme Court ruling classified embryos created through IVF as children, leading to clinics pausing services until a bill was passed to protect IVF. Despite efforts by Democrats and some Republicans to pass federal legislation protecting IVF access, most Republicans blocked the efforts. A recent NBC News poll showed a large gender gap in favor of Harris over Trump for the 2024 election, with abortion being a top motivating issue where more voters believed Harris would handle it better compared to Trump.
