Arizona Men’s Tennis team continued their winning streak by defeating Tulsa 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. The Cats won their ninth consecutive match, with freshman Glib Sekachov and Filip Gustafsson securing a 6-2 win in doubles play. Despite dropping matches on courts one and three, Arizona fought back in singles play. No. 9 Jay Friend led the team with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory over Tulsa’s top player. Freshman Zoran Ludoski lost his match, but the team rallied with wins from Alexander Rozin, Matthias Kask, and Casper Christensen. Filip Gustafsson also secured a victory on court three to seal the win for Arizona.
The Cats will now hit the road for upcoming matches against Kalamazoo College and Michigan State before kicking off Big 12 play against No. 13 Central Florida on Sunday, March 16. The team’s strong performance against Tulsa has shown their determination and skill as they continue to climb in the rankings.
