Arizona State football has made its way back into The Associated Press’ Top 25 poll for the first time in three years. The Sun Devils clinched the No. 21 spot after their 24-14 victory over Kansas State. This marks the first time the program has been ranked under head coach Kenny Dillingham, and they also secured a spot in the Coaches Poll at No. 22. ASU narrowly missed the Top 25 last week after defeating UCF but received 35 votes. After their win against Utah, they received 39 votes, leading up to their current ranking.
With a record of 8-2, Arizona State is set to face off against No. 14 BYU on Saturday. A win in this game could secure ASU’s first undefeated home season since 2004. If they continue to win, they have a solid chance of making it to the Big 12 Championship Game in December. The conference currently has four ranked teams, including BYU, Colorado, Arizona State, and Iowa State. Oregon holds the No. 1 spot in the AP poll, with Ohio State, Texas, Penn State, and Indiana rounding out the top five.
Fans can watch the College Football Playoff rankings reveal on Tuesday at 5 p.m. MST on ESPN. As for ASU, they still have games against BYU and Arizona left on their schedule. Their game against BYU will kick off at 1:30 p.m. MST on Nov. 23. Listen to all the action on 98.7 FM or the Arizona Sports app.
