Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star second baseman, Ketel Marte, has been named a finalist for the prestigious Hank Aaron Award, which recognizes the top offensive players in both the American League and National League each year. An esteemed panel of MLB legends, such as Derek Jeter and David Ortiz, will decide the winners along with input from an online fan vote. The awards will be announced on Nov. 14 alongside the All-MLB Team.
Marte had an exceptional 2024 season, ranking highly in various offensive categories in the National League. He finished the season with impressive stats, including being second in OPS and slugging percentage, sixth in on-base percentage, and having the fourth-most home runs and sixth-highest batting average in the NL. He also led MLB in ninth-inning home runs and ranked third in first-inning homers.
The veteran player earned his second career All-Star Game appearance this past summer and is a strong contender for the NL Most Valuable Player award alongside Shohei Ohtani. Marte’s outstanding performance throughout the season has garnered him recognition as one of the top offensive players in the league.
Other finalists for the Hank Aaron Award include notable names like Freddie Freeman, Bryce Harper, and Shohei Ohtani in the National League, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Aaron Judge, and Juan Soto in the American League. Stay tuned to see who clinches the title of the best offensive player in each league when the awards are announced next month.
