Dillingham summons young Arizona State football players

Arizona State football head coach Kenny Dillingham is challenging the young players on the team to step up and earn their spot on the field. Dillingham is looking for six to 12 more reliable young players to join the ranks, from redshirt sophomores to true freshmen. The call to action comes after the team’s first scrimmage of spring camp at Mountain America Stadium, where adjustments to different grass and stadium lighting are being made. Dillingham highlighted tight end AJ Ia, linebacker Martell Hughes, and defensive backs Rodney Bimage Jr. and Plas Johnson as standout young players so far.
Ia, in particular, has impressed with his size and athleticism, catching the eye of the coaching staff. Offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo also praised running back Demarius Robinson for his competitive spirit and impact on the field. The wide receiver position is one to watch for a freshman to step up, with the departure of key starters from 2024.
Overall, the young players at Arizona State are being pushed to elevate their game and prove themselves in spring camp. Dillingham is looking for players to confidently verbalize their knowledge of the system and show that they are ready for the challenge. As the team continues to grow and adjust, the hope is that more young players will rise to the occasion and make their mark on the program.
