Arizona guard KJ Lewis has decided to enter the transfer portal just two days after the team’s loss to Duke in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The sophomore from El Paso, Texas, is the first Wildcat to announce his departure following the 2024-25 season. Lewis averaged 10.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists while playing in all 37 possible games this season. In the postseason, he averaged 12.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 25.2 minutes per game, but had a quiet offensive performance against Duke.
Meanwhile, veterans Caleb Love and Trey Townsend are both out of eligibility, leaving some gaps in the team. On a positive note, Arizona recently received a commitment from local Perry High School star Koa Peat and signed four-star player Dwayne Aristode from New Hampshire in November. Bryce James, son of LeBron James, also committed to Arizona in January.
Lewis’ decision to transfer adds to the changes happening within the Arizona basketball program, and it will be interesting to see how the team adjusts for the upcoming season. Fans will be keeping a close eye on the roster changes and incoming talent as the Wildcats prepare for the next chapter in their basketball journey.
