South Carolina beach volleyball faced two tough losses on Saturday at the ASU/GCU Invitational in Tempe, Arizona. The Gamecocks started with a 3-2 loss to No. 19 Washington and ended the day with a 4-1 loss to host No. 12 Arizona State. Despite the losses, there were standout performances from players like Rachel Hartmann, Riley Whitesides, Jolie Cranford, and Julia Waugh.
Freshman Sophie Lyen also had a memorable moment in her first career start and win in partnership with senior Kennedy Westendorff. The team now looks ahead to the Unconquered Invitational in Tallahassee, where they will face tough competition from Florida State, Texas, LSU, and Florida Atlantic.
