A man in Austin, Texas, was charged with intoxication manslaughter after a late-night wreck on Interstate 35 involving over a dozen vehicles resulted in the death of five people, including three adults, a child, and an infant. Solomun Weldekeal Araya, 37, faces five counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault. Eleven people were taken to hospitals following the crash. The circumstances leading to the wreck have not been detailed by police, who stated that the investigation was ongoing. The southbound lanes of I-35 were closed following the crash but reopened later in the day. The collision was described as “very large and very complex” by authorities.
