Dr. Patricia Prelock, currently serving as the interim President at the University of Vermont, has been appointed as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Arizona. This move is part of University of Arizona President Suresh Garimella’s efforts to fill his cabinet with experienced leaders. Prelock, who has been at the University of Vermont for three decades, is known for her leadership roles at the university, including Provost since 2019. She is recognized for her expertise in autism, interprofessional education, and family-centered care. Prelock’s appointment was the result of a thorough selection process that involved four provost candidates. She was unanimously approved by the search committee for her alignment with the university’s mission and commitment to student success, research, and community engagement. Prelock will be joining two other former University of Vermont leaders at the University of Arizona, including Richard Cate, who will be retiring from UVM in June.
