ASU defeats Arizona Baseball in finale but Arizona still clinches series win

Arizona Baseball suffered an 8-4 loss to Arizona State in the series finale at Phoenix Municipal Stadium on Sunday. Despite the defeat, the Wildcats still managed to secure the series victory with wins on Friday and Saturday. The Wildcats initially took a 4-0 lead with a Maddox Mihalakis RBI single and a three-run homer from Andrew Cain. However, Arizona State responded with eight unanswered runs to clinch the win. Arizona’s bullpen struggled in the sixth inning, allowing four runs. Arizona State reliever Cole Carlon played a key role in shutting down the Wildcats, retiring all 13 batters he faced and striking out 10. The Wildcats will now turn their focus to their upcoming game against New Mexico State on Tuesday at Hi Corbett Field. Despite the loss, Arizona remains optimistic and looks to bounce back in their next game.
