Tracking GCU Men’s Basketball Transfer Portal Activity for 2025

The Grand Canyon University men’s basketball team is facing a significant overhaul this offseason as they bid farewell to key players from their recent successful run. With lead guard Ray Harrison and star Tyon Grant-Foster no longer eligible to play, the team is already seeing some of their remaining players enter the transfer portal, including freshmen Austin Maurer, Sammie Yeanay, and Styles Phipps. The team recently lost standout player Duke Brennan, who had an impressive season as second-team All-WAC.
As the team looks ahead to the 2025-26 season, they will be relying on returning players Makaih Williams and Caleb Shaw to lead the way. Williams contributed 8.2 points and 2.4 assists per game, while Shaw delivered 6.1 points with a strong 42.6% shooting percentage from beyond the arc.
The departures of Maurer, Yeanay, Phipps, and Brennan mark the beginning of what could be a significant rebuild for the GCU men’s basketball team as they aim to maintain their recent success in the NCAA Tournament. Fans will be eagerly watching to see how the team fills the gaps left by these departures and builds a new core to carry them forward in the upcoming season.
