A 36-year-old Las Vegas cinematographer, Paul Kim, was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including arson and possession of an explosive device, after allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails and opening fire on Teslas earlier this month. Kim was identified by detectives fleeing in a Black Honda Elantra and was eventually apprehended with the help of drones and license plate readers. The LVMPD Sheriff Kevin McMahill credited technology for aiding in solving the case. Kim will also face federal charges in addition to the state case, according to FBI Special Agent Spencer Evans.
The attack occurred at the Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas, with the suspect targeting property associated with Elon Musk, the billionaire Tesla CEO. The attacker used Molotov cocktails and fired three rounds into different Tesla vehicles in what was described as a “targeted” attack. Evans emphasized that individuals contemplating similar attacks should not be cheered on by a self-righteous mob, as they will ultimately be held responsible and face the prospect of a lengthy prison sentence.
