Nurse from Utah apprehended and charged with murder of friend in alleged scheme for life insurance money

Meggan Randall Sundwall, a Utah nurse, has been accused of killing her friend, Kacee Lyn Terry, in order to cash in on Terry’s life insurance policy. Terry was found dead of an overdose of insulin and promethazine, despite not being diabetic. Sundwall, a licensed nurse, allegedly convinced Terry that she had cancer and needed medication, even though Terry had no health issues. Text messages between the two showed that Sundwall believed she was the beneficiary of Terry’s $1.5 million life insurance policy. The day Terry died, Sundwall sent a text asking if Terry wanted to take medication to be asleep when it happened. Terry’s uncle found her with Sundwall, who claimed Terry had a DNR and did not want to go to the hospital. Despite Terry’s sisters believing she had terminal cancer, she was actually healthy. Sundwall is facing charges of aggravated murder and obstruction of justice. The affidavit did not mention proof of a life insurance policy with Sundwall as the beneficiary, nor any paperwork designating Sundwall as having power of attorney. Sundwall remains in custody and it is unclear if she has retained legal representation. The incident occurred in Highland, Utah, a city near Salt Lake City.
