A tragic automobile accident in northern Arizona has claimed the life of a Saguaro High School senior, Adam Mychajiliw, and left another student in critical condition. The accident occurred on Friday along I-40 near Holbrook during a violent winter storm. Adam, a member of the school’s cross-country team, was described as a kind person with a great sense of humor who was involved in many activities.
The principal of Saguaro High School sent a letter to parents informing them of the tragic event and offering support to students who may be struggling with grief. Grief counselors will be available on campus throughout the week, and a vigil is being planned for mid-week.
The Scottsdale Unified School District is providing resources for parents to help their children cope with the loss and offering support to students and staff as they process the emotions associated with the tragedy. The injured student’s name has not been released, but students and community members are mourning the loss of their classmates and coming together to support one another during this difficult time.
