Federal Government Reinstates Maryland Workers who were Fired

The federal government is reversing mass layoffs of probationary workers following a temporary restraining order issued by a judge. About 24,500 employees from 19 departments, many of whom reside in Maryland, are being reinstated. The layoffs occurred between January 20 and early March under the Trump administration. Human resources chiefs of the agencies submitted status updates to the U.S. District Court in Maryland detailing the number of employees fired. The employees are being hired back, at least temporarily, while the situation is sorted out. This development comes after the judge’s order halted the mass layoffs, providing relief to the affected workers. The reinstated employees will be able to continue their work as the federal government navigates through this process. Stay tuned for further updates.
