Woman confesses to attempting to sell dog regurgitated human toes

Joanna Kinman, an Australian woman, narrowly avoided jail after taking two toes regurgitated by dogs at an animal shelter where she worked and planned to sell them on the black market. The dogs had eaten parts of their deceased owner’s body, which remained unidentified. Kinman kept the toes in a jar of formaldehyde with other strange items in her home, including an alligator claw, a bird skull, a guinea pig trotter, and her children’s teeth. She was a member of a Facebook group called “Bone Buddies Australia,” where specimens were bought and sold. Kinman pleaded guilty to offensive conduct involving human remains and was sentenced to 18 months non-custodial sentence and 150 hours of community service. Despite facing a maximum sentence of two years in prison, she was spared jail time. Her lawyer stated that she regretted her actions and had faced job loss and online shaming. Kinman did not respond to media questions. The magistrate described her actions as “astounding” and “entirely odd,” emphasizing the repulsion felt by the community towards her behavior.
