Lightpath purchases WANRack’s operations in Phoenix, Arizona

US fiber company Lightpath has acquired WANRack’s network assets and customers in Phoenix, Arizona, adding 133 miles of fiber to its network. This acquisition brings Lightpath’s total network footprint in the Phoenix market to 363 miles, positioning them near over 30 data center campuses. The company entered the Phoenix market just last month with plans to build a 230-mile fiber network. High-priority network segments are expected to be completed in Q2 2025, with full network completion by year-end 2026. The former WANRack network is already operational.

Lightpath, previously known as Optimum Lightpath, has traditionally focused on the New York area but has expanded its footprint over the years. Altice USA owns a majority stake in the company, with Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners owning the remainder. Headquartered in Kansas City, WANRack is a middle-mile and last-mile infrastructure provider operating in 23 US states. The details of the transaction were not disclosed, but Lightpath’s CFO, Rachel Stack, stated that the acquisition aligns with the company’s strategic goals and commitment to innovative solutions for their customers.
