Phoenix will experience a quick warm-up today with temperatures reaching the upper 70s. However, big changes are on the way as a storm system is set to bring cooler temperatures, gusty winds, and rain and snow later this week. The first wave of showers will arrive on Thursday morning, with gusty winds reaching up to 55 miles per hour in the high country. The next round of rain and snow is expected on Friday, with up to six inches of snow accumulation in northern Arizona.
This system will clear out in time for the weekend, with temperatures warming up again. Phoenix has been experiencing lower rainfall averages over the years, with the average monsoon rainfall decreasing from 2.71″ to 2.43″ and the average yearly rainfall decreasing from 8.03″ to 7.22″. Residents are advised to stay alert for updates on rain and snow totals as the storm approaches. Share weather photos and videos with ABC15 at share@abc15.com.
