Arizona Gymnastics is gearing up to take on West Virginia for their final conference road meet of the season on February 28. Coming off a strong performance at the Metroplex Challenge where they finished second with an overall team score of 196.125, the GymCats are ranked No. 20 overall in the Road to Nationals rankings. They have also been ranked in individual events, with their vault team ranked No. 26, uneven bars at No. 23, balance beam at No. 17, and floor exercise at No. 23.
The team welcomed six freshmen this season, while also returning 13 gymnasts from the previous season, including key seniors Elena Deets, Alysen Fears, Elizabeth LaRusso, and Emily Mueller. The coaching staff, led by head coach John Court, is strong with the addition of assistant coach Shelby Martinez. Four GymCats were selected to the Big 12 Preseason Gymnastics Team, including Fears, Deets, LaRusso, and Mueller. The GymCats are looking to continue their successful season with a strong showing against West Virginia.
