Valley temperatures in Phoenix are set to soar during the first week of spring training, with highs expected to be 15 degrees above normal. The forecast calls for temperatures in the middle 80s through Friday, considerably higher than the typical high of 72-73 degrees for this time of year. A strong high-pressure system and dry air are causing the winter warmup, according to Chris Kuhlman of the National Weather Service in Phoenix.
Temperatures are expected to start trending downward on Saturday, but will still be slightly above normal in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees over the weekend. Looking ahead to next week, a cooling system with a chance for rain may bring temperatures closer to normal in the low to mid-70s.
