Adam Joseph Montoya, 27, has been indicted by an Arizona grand jury for the fatal shooting of his 1-year-old daughter in Show Low, Arizona. The incident occurred on February 3, with Montoya allegedly using an AR-style rifle in front of the girl’s mother. He has been charged with second-degree murder and child abuse, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

The Navajo County Public Defender’s Office, representing Montoya, has not commented on the case. The shooting took place in Show Low, a small community northeast of Phoenix. Emergency responders were unable to save the infant, who was pronounced dead at a local medical center.
