Ethan Orr has been named the new dean of the Don B. Huntley College of Agriculture at Cal Poly Pomona, starting on April 1. Cal Poly Provost S. Terri Gomez praised Orr’s entrepreneurial spirit and industry connections, pointing to his experience in agriculture technology and public service. Currently an associate professor at the University of Arizona, Orr has secured over $84 million in grants for agriculture programs and has worked extensively on projects such as irrigation efficiency and agricultural literacy programs. With a background in the Arizona state legislature, non-profits, municipal government, and the private sector, Orr brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He expressed enthusiasm for joining the Cal Poly Pomona team, citing the college’s commitment to students and the community. Orr succeeds Mary Holz-Clause as the dean of the Huntley College, following interim deans Lisa Kessler, Martin Sancho-Madriz, and Alison Baski. His appointment marks a new chapter for the College of Agriculture at Cal Poly Pomona.
