Arizona is celebrating its 113th birthday on Valentine’s Day, February 14th. It was on this day in 1912 that President William Howard Taft signed legislation officially making Arizona the 48th state in the U.S. Prior to statehood, Arizona had been a U.S. territory for almost 50 years.
To commemorate this milestone, Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes will host a reception at the State Historic Capitol Rotunda on Friday at 9 a.m. Fontes stated that Arizona’s journey as a state is a story of resilience, diversity, and community, and invited everyone to join in celebrating the shared history and shaping the future of the state.
As Arizona marks this special day, it serves as a reminder of the state’s rich history and the progress made over the past 113 years. Happy birthday, Arizona!
