Scott McGough returns to the Diamondbacks on a minor league contract

The Arizona Diamondbacks have added right-handed relievers Scott McGough and John Curtiss to their roster, signing them to minor league contracts with spring training invites. McGough, who spent the past two seasons with the team, had a 5.59 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 103 innings. Curtiss, a 31-year-old with 94 MLB appearances, had a 2.89 ERA and 70 strikeouts from 2019-2021 before undergoing Tommy John surgery. Both pitchers will join a group of non-roster invitee pitchers at spring training, including Kyle Amendt, Jeff Brigham, and José Castillo. Last year, three non-roster pitchers ended up playing for the Diamondbacks in the major leagues. Pitchers and catchers are set to report on Wednesday for the upcoming season. The Diamondbacks are hoping that McGough and Curtiss will provide valuable depth and pitching options as they prepare for the season ahead.
