No. 17 Arizona’s softball team secured an impressive victory over No. 11 Alabama with a walk-off three-run double from Kaiah Altmeyer in the fifth inning. The Wildcats dominated with a 9-1 run-rule win, led by Altmeyer’s 2-for-3 performance with three RBIs. Freshman Emma Kavanagh also contributed, going 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Sydney Stewart and Devyn Netz each drove in two runs. The game remained scoreless until Arizona took the lead with two runs in the third inning.
Alabama managed to score one run in the top of the fifth, but Arizona exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the inning to secure the win. Miranda Stoddard pitched a strong game, allowing only one run on four hits in 4.1 innings before Ryan Maddox came in for the save.
The Wildcats will wrap up the Candrea Classic against Washington on Sunday, February 8th. This victory marks an impressive performance for Arizona as they continue to showcase their strength on the field.
