Arizona Baseball outfielder Brendan Summerhill has been named to the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, becoming the first Wildcat to receive this honor since 2023. Summerhill, a junior, has had an impressive career with a .311 batting average and was a key player in the Wildcats’ 2024 Pac-12 Championship season. He has also been recognized as a Preseason All-American by Perfect Game and Baseball America.
USA Baseball has been awarding the Golden Spikes Award to the top amateur baseball player in the country since 1978. Summerhill’s selection to the watch list is a testament to his exceptional athletic ability and sportsmanship. The award winner will be announced in June after a selection of semifinalists and finalists.
The Wildcats will kick off their 2025 season next Friday at the Shriners Children’s College Showdown in Arlington, Texas. Fans can get a preview of the team at the Meet the Team event this Saturday at Hi Corbett Field. Tickets for the season are on sale now.
