Arizona State University added another commitment to its 2026 football class with 6-foot-4 tight end Hayden Vercher announcing his decision on social media. Vercher, the third-best commit in the class according to 247 Sports, chose ASU after attending the team’s Junior Day. He is the first California commit in a class that also includes players from Texas and Arizona.
Ranked as the No. 31 tight end in the class by 247, Vercher had a breakout season in his junior year at Thousand Oaks High School, catching 70 passes for over 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns. He is projected to play a significant role in ASU’s passing game in college, with his ability to make big plays down the field and create matchup nightmares for defenses.
ASU’s tight end position has been a focus of recruiting for position coach Jason Mohns, with Vercher being the latest addition to a strong group of recruits at the position. Vercher cited ASU’s use of tight ends and the presence of quarterback commit Jake Fette as key factors in his decision to commit to the school.
With offers from other Power 4 schools, including Arizona and California, Vercher ultimately chose ASU for its coaching staff, offensive schemes, and the opportunity to contribute early in his college career. ASU continues to build a strong recruiting class with Vercher’s commitment and looks forward to seeing his continued progression on the field.
