Men’s Golf to Resume Play on Monday in Arizona

The University of Missouri men’s golf team is set to open their spring season at the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Arizona on Feb. 3-4. The tournament, hosted by the University of Arizona, will see MU competing against 13 other teams, including nationally ranked squads such as Arizona, BYU, and USC.

Last year, Missouri finished fifth out of 18 teams at the NIT with a season-low team score of 830. Individually, Jack Lundin had an impressive performance, finishing in the top five with a score of 15-under.

During the fall season, Missouri’s highlight was a second-place finish at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational, where the team finished 12 under-par. Individually, Virgilio Paz led the team with a 72.58 stroke average and secured his first event win at the Golfweek Invitational.

The Tigers’ starting lineup for the tournament includes Dagbjartur Sigurbrandsson, Veikka Viskari, Virgilio Paz, Trent Mierl, and Brock Snyder, with Trevor Mierl as the individual competitor. The team will then head to Lihue, Hawaii for the John Burns Intercollegiate on Feb. 13.
