Former Wildcat Andre Iguodala to have his jersey retired by the Warriors

Former Arizona Wildcat and four-time NBA champion Andre Iguodala will have his No. 9 jersey retired by the Golden State Warriors on Feb. 23 after a game against the Dallas Mavericks. Iguodala, a key member of the Warriors during their four championship wins, won the 2015 NBA Finals MVP with impressive stats. Throughout his career, he averaged 11.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.4 steals, ranking 20th all-time in steals in NBA history.

Iguodala spent two years at Arizona before being drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2004. He was a standout player during his sophomore year, earning a spot on the Pac-10 All-Freshman and All-Pac-10 First Team. He also holds a place in the Arizona men’s basketball Ring of Honor.

The Warriors’ tribute video announcing the jersey retirement was narrated by Iguodala’s son, Andre Iguodala II, who honored his father by saying, “You’ll be the last Warrior to wear number nine. Our name lives forever.”

Fans and teammates alike are excited to see Iguodala’s jersey hanging in the rafters of the Warriors’ arena, paying tribute to his contributions to the team’s success over the years. The ceremony on Feb. 23 is expected to be a memorable event as Iguodala’s legacy as a player and teammate is celebrated by the organization and its fans.
