Jason Kelce will not face charges after appearing to smash someone’s phone in altercation

Former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Jason Kelce will not face charges for smashing a fan’s cellphone outside Penn State University’s Beaver Stadium last month. The altercation was apparently sparked by a slur directed at Kelce’s brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Video footage showed Kelce holding a case of beer outside the stadium when the fan shouted at him and used a homophobic slur towards Travis Kelce. Kelce responded by grabbing the man’s phone, smashing it, and repeating the slur back at him before walking away. The man then chased Kelce and asked for his phone back. Despite the incident, no one has come forward to Penn State University Police with a complaint about property damage, and the case has been closed. Kelce apologized for his actions on ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown,” admitting that he responded to hate with hate in a heated moment and recognized that it was not a productive reaction. Kelce has been working as a commentator for ESPN since his retirement at the end of last season and was at the game with the network’s “College GameDay.” ESPN has not commented on the incident.
