ASU Football Faces Challenge of Extended Break Before Peach Bowl
TEMPE — After clinching a spot in the Peach Bowl with a Big 12 title game victory, Arizona State football now faces a 23-day break before their next game on Jan. 1. With six straight wins under their belt, coach Kenny Dillingham is navigating the challenge of keeping his team sharp and rested during this extended period.
Dillingham is seeking advice from experienced coaches and utilizing feedback from his staff and leadership council to create a plan for the break. The team will have this week off before entering a “simulated bye week” with high-intensity practices to maintain football shape.
For the first 13 days of the break, ASU won’t know their Peach Bowl opponent as Texas and Clemson face off in the first round. This period will be dedicated to self-scouting and analyzing tendencies to prepare for any potential opponent.
Dillingham emphasized the importance of using this time to change up tendencies and focus on the team’s strengths. With three high-intensity practices planned before the Peach Bowl, ASU aims to stay sharp and prepare for a strong performance.
Overall, ASU is prepared to use the break to their advantage by focusing on self-improvement and strategic planning. The team’s goal is to come out of the break ready to face any opponent in the Peach Bowl and continue their successful season.
