Marana High School’s Dezmen Roebuck has been named the 2024-25 Gatorade Arizona Football Player of the Year, making him the first player from his school to receive this prestigious honor. The Gatorade Player of the Year award recognizes outstanding high school athletes for their excellence on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
Roebuck, a standout wide receiver and safety, had an impressive season with 95 receptions, 1,131 yards, and 14 touchdowns. He also recorded 51 tackles and four interceptions, leading his team to the Open Division State Tournament quarterfinals. Roebuck holds a state-record 352 catches and has been recognized as a Conference 5A First Team All-State selection.
Off the field, Roebuck has volunteered at a food bank and homeless shelter, as well as coached youth football and basketball. He has maintained a 3.06 GPA and has made a verbal commitment to play football at the University of Washington next year.
The Gatorade Player of the Year program recognizes winners in each state across 12 different high school sports. Roebuck joins a prestigious group of alumni, including Emmitt Smith and Peyton Manning. Each winner also receives a grant to donate to a social impact partner, furthering Gatorade’s commitment to breaking down barriers in sport.
Roebuck’s talent, leadership, and dedication both on and off the field have earned him this well-deserved recognition as the top high school football player in Arizona.
