A young child is in critical condition after being found unconscious in a backyard pool in north Phoenix on Sunday afternoon. Phoenix Fire responded to a call near 35th Avenue and Greenway Road just before 1 p.m. and immediately began life-saving procedures on the child. The child was rushed to the hospital and the Phoenix Police Department will be conducting an investigation into the incident.
It is unclear how long the child had been in the pool before being discovered. The incident serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of pool safety and supervision, especially during the summer months when drowning incidents tend to increase.
