Former Arizona State Sun Devil infielders Dustin Pedroia and Ian Kinsler have been named on the 2025 BBWAA Hall of Fame ballot, joining other notable players such as Ichiro Suzuki and C.C. Sabathia. Pedroia, a former Red Sox player, boasts an impressive resume including four All-Star appearances, four Gold Gloves, two World Series championships, and a Rookie of the Year and MVP award. Kinsler, who played for the Rangers and Tigers, accumulated 54.1 bWAR and won four Gold Gloves and was a four-time All-Star. Both players had successful collegiate careers at Arizona State before pursuing professional baseball.
Other players on the 2025 ballot include outfielder Adam Jones and closer Fernando Rodney from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Rodney, a three-time All-Star, was the D-backs’ closer in 2017, while Jones spent his final MLB season with Arizona in 2019. The ballot also features notable newcomers such as Felix Hernandez, Curtis Granderson, and Carlos Gonzalez, as well as returning members like Billy Wagner and Andruw Jones.
In order to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, players must receive at least 75% of the vote. The 2025 newcomers, who played their final MLB games in 2019, must receive a minimum of 5% of the vote to stay eligible for future inductions. The voting process will be closely watched as baseball fans eagerly await the announcement of the new Hall of Fame class later this year.
