Voting in Maryland starts on Thursday

[ad_1]
Early voting for the 2024 presidential election in Maryland begins this Thursday, offering voters the opportunity to cast their ballots in-person at one of 97 early voting centers statewide. According to a recent poll, 28% of registered voters plan to vote early, while 27% plan to vote by mail. The majority, 43%, still plan to vote in person on Election Day.

Voters can still request a mail-in ballot until a week before the election and drop it off at designated locations throughout the state. Additionally, Marylanders who are not currently registered can do so and cast a ballot on the same day at an early voting center or polling location.

In addition to the presidential race, Maryland voters will also be choosing between former Gov. Larry Hogan and Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks in a closely watched Senate race. There will also be decisions on all eight U.S. House seats, a referendum on reproductive freedom, local ballot questions, school board members, circuit court judges, and retention or rejection of Court of Appeals judges and Maryland Supreme Court justices.

Voter turnout is expected to be high, with the poll indicating that only 1% of registered voters are unlikely to vote. The majority are either very likely or absolutely certain they will cast a ballot. Maryland Matters’ Voter Guide and Election 2024 pages provide information on the candidates and issues for voters to inform their decisions.
