Del. Brooke Grossman (D-Washington) has announced her resignation midway through her first term in the General Assembly due to her family moving out of the district, making her ineligible to serve. Grossman, who served on the House Ways and Means Committee, leaves behind a record of sponsoring election recount legislation and affordable housing initiatives.
Meanwhile, Del. Shaneka Henson (D-Anne Arundel) has officially declared her candidacy for the Senate seat that U.S. Rep.-elect Sarah K. Elfreth (D-3rd) will vacate to join Congress. Henson, along with fellow delegate Dana Jones, is vying for the appointment, with endorsements from community leaders and officials backing her bid.
Additionally, U.S. Sen.-elect Angela Alsobrooks (D) has appointed Zephranie Buetow, a former Biden administration and Capitol Hill staffer, as her chief of staff. And U.S. Rep.-elect Johnny Olszewski Jr. (D-2nd) has announced key hires for his congressional office, bringing on staff from Baltimore County government and Capitol Hill veterans to join his team.
Lastly, former Montgomery County Councilmember Hans Riemer (D) has started a new role at Arnold Ventures as vice president of advocacy, infrastructure, focusing on housing, energy, and transportation policy reform.
