Arizona State University’s football team is on the verge of potentially securing a spot in the Big 12 title game, but they still need an outside win to make it happen. Despite needing a win from specific teams to line up the tiebreakers, both Kansas and West Virginia lost as road underdogs in earlier games.
Baylor’s win over Kansas maintained their outside shot at the title game, but the outcome of the Kansas State vs. Iowa State and BYU vs. Houston games will also impact ASU’s chances. ASU will need TCU to beat Cincinnati in order to secure a spot in the title game if BYU loses.
Before all of this can unfold, ASU faces a tough rivalry game, the Territorial Cup, against a talented team that has won the past two matchups in convincing fashion. The game will kick off at 1:30 p.m. MST, and fans can follow along on 98.7 FM, the Arizona Sports app, or online.
The fate of ASU’s Big 12 title game appearance hangs in the balance and will depend on other game results. ASU football fans will have to stay tuned to see if their team can clinch a spot in the championship game.
