Walmart is recalling cucumber slices sold in 34 Texas stores due to concerns of salmonella contamination. The recall applies to Marketside Fresh Cut Cucumber Slices that may contain cucumbers sold by SunFed Produce, which had been previously recalled for salmonella infections between Oct. 12 and Nov. 15. Salmonella infections can cause fever, bloody diarrhea, stomach pains, nausea, and vomiting, with around 420 deaths in the U.S. annually from the infection. Walmart advised customers to either dispose of the cucumber slices or return them to the store. SunFed had previously recalled cucumbers sold between Oct. 12 and Nov. 26 at stores across the U.S. and in Canada. SunFed President Craig Slate assured immediate action to protect consumers upon learning of the issue. The recall covers all date codes up to December 1st. Customers who have purchased the affected cucumber slices are urged to be cautious and follow Walmart’s advice to prevent potential health risks related to salmonella contamination.
