OceanWell, a water technology company, has secured $11 million in Series A funding to expand its deep-sea water farm solution and launch a pilot project in California with Las Virgenes Municipal Water District (LVMWD). The funding round included investments from Kubota Corporation, Jon Hemingway of Carrix Ports, and Charles McGarraugh, signaling support from industry leaders.
OceanWell’s innovative modular deep-sea water farms utilize pods that harness hydrostatic pressure for reverse osmosis desalination at depths of 400 meters. Each pod can produce up to one million gallons of fresh water daily, with a design that allows for scalability based on demand. The technology ensures clean water by filtering out salts, bacteria, viruses, and toxins while reducing energy consumption by up to 40 percent and protecting marine life.
With the global water scarcity crisis worsening, OceanWell aims to address the growing demand for clean drinking water by providing affordable and abundant freshwater using its deep-sea pods. The company’s first water farm is being developed in California to meet the region’s needs following years of drought.
Kubota Corporation, a longstanding leader in water infrastructure manufacturing, recognizes the importance of investing in advanced water technologies to tackle water scarcity issues globally.
