The holiday season is upon us, and with it comes the beloved tradition of Secret Santa in the workplace. However, finding the perfect gift for a colleague can be a daunting task. A recent survey conducted by InstantPrint has revealed the best and worst Secret Santa gifts for work, offering a useful guide for those feeling stuck.
According to the survey, chocolates and sweets are the most popular ideal gifts, followed by gift vouchers and homemade gifts for their personal touch. However, scented candles may not be universally appreciated, with 15% of respondents preferring not to receive them from a colleague. Alcohol can also be a tricky gift choice, as it may not be suitable for colleagues who do not drink for various reasons.
When it comes to corporate Secret Santa, it’s best to avoid divisive or unusual gifts such as toys, stuffed animals, or items with sexual connotations. Personal care products and cosmetics are also not favored by 32% of office workers surveyed. Despite the challenges of finding the perfect gift, the survey also found that seven in 10 employees find more joy in giving a gift rather than receiving one.
While the rise of remote working has impacted the tradition of Secret Santa in the workplace, with logistical issues and a decline in team spirit, 30% of those surveyed are still eager to participate this year. With the holiday season in full swing, participating in a Secret Santa exchange can bring a touch of festive cheer to the workplace.
