The Minnesota Duluth men’s hockey team is facing injury challenges heading into their NCHC games against Arizona State this weekend. Starting goaltender Adam Gajan is questionable after injuring his ankle in practice, while Joe Molenaar and Trevor Stachowiak are also dealing with injuries. With Gajan potentially out, junior Zach Sandy and freshman Klayton Knapp may both see playing time in the upcoming games.
Arizona State, the NCHC’s newest member, has made significant strides since transitioning from club to NCAA Division I status in 2015. Coach Greg Powers acknowledges that being denied entry to the NCHC initially allowed the program to build itself up and achieve success. The Bulldogs previously swept the Sun Devils in a series earlier this season and now look to replicate that success in Arizona.
