Top Candidate for Chicago Bears Head Coach Position is Former Arizona Cardinals Head Coach

Former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is making headlines once again as a top candidate for the recently opened head coaching position with the Chicago Bears. Currently serving as the offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders, Kingsbury’s connection with Bears QB Caleb Williams, whom he previously worked with at USC, seems to be a major reason for his candidacy.

Kingsbury spent the 2023 season at USC as a senior offensive analyst, where he helped Williams improve his completion percentage and performance on the field. Williams ultimately went on to win the Heisman Trophy and was selected by the Bears as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Although Kingsbury interviewed for the Chicago offensive coordinator position last offseason, he ultimately did not secure the job. However, his success with the Commanders this season has put him in a strong position to compete for head coaching gigs in the upcoming 2025 cycle. Kingsbury is expected to face competition from other notable names, including Ben Johnson, Joe Brady, and Aaron Glenn, as he vies for a return to a head coaching role in the NFL.
