Arizona State Volleyball Earns No. 3 Seed, Hosting NCAA Tournament for First Time Since 1995
Arizona State University’s volleyball team has secured a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament, marking the first time they have hosted the tournament since 1995. The Sun Devils, under second-year head coach JJ Van Niel, will face off against New Hampshire in the first round on December 6 at 6:30 p.m. MST at Desert Financial Arena. With a record of 29-2 and being crowned the 2024 Big 12 Champions, the team is on a 17-match winning streak heading into the tournament.
Led by senior outside hitter Geli Cyr, graduate setter Argentina Ung, and graduate libero Mary Shroll, the Sun Devils have had an impressive season. The team has shown strength on both offense and defense, with a hitting percentage of .277 and holding opponents to a low hitting percentage of .157. With contributions from every position on the team, Arizona State has proven to be a formidable opponent throughout the season.
Tickets for the tournament will go on sale to the general public on December 2, with matches being broadcast live on ESPN+. Sun Devil fans can expect an exciting tournament as the team looks to make a deep run after their success in the previous season.
