Emergency Pediatric Information Cards introduced by Arizona safety authorities to aid in serious crashes

Arizona public safety officials are introducing a new resource called Emergency Pediatric Information Cards (E.P.I.C) to assist families in the event of a serious car crash. The Arizona Department of Public Safety and Department of Health Services are providing these yellow adhesive cards, which can be attached to a child’s car seat or a visible location in the car.

The cards are meant to include essential information about the child such as name, birthdate, address, allergies, emergency contact information, and physician contact information. Sgt. Eric Andrews of DPS emphasized the importance of these cards in helping first responders communicate with and comfort children during emergencies.

E.P.I.C is a free and voluntary resource, with Sgt. Andrews highlighting that even knowing the child’s name can be crucial in providing comfort. Troopers are already carrying these cards and distributing them during calls. In the future, E.P.I.C cards will be available at DPS stations and local ADOT facilities.

The initiative aims to ensure the safety and well-being of children involved in car accidents by providing vital information to first responders. Families are encouraged to take advantage of this resource to help make emergency situations more manageable.
