A New York woman, Christine Heller Seaman, has spent 44 years haunted by the disappearance of her grandparents, Catherine and Charles Romer. The Romers went missing in 1980 while traveling home from Miami Beach in their 1978 Lincoln Continental. Concerns of foul play arose due to Catherine Romer wearing valuable jewelry. Recently, a car similar to their description was found submerged in a pond in Georgia, with human remains and personal belongings inside it.
Although the remains have not yet been identified, Seaman and her family believe that the mystery may soon be solved, leading them to believe the couple died in an accident rather than foul play. This has allowed the family to celebrate the lives of Catherine and Charles and reminisce about happy memories without sorrow and dread.
Seaman described her grandmother as the “life of the party” and her grandfather as a “lovely and generous man.” She expressed gratitude towards investigators and a diving team from Florida for their efforts in uncovering the mystery. The resolution of the case has brought a sense of closure for the family, who had spent decades wondering about the fate of their missing relatives. The discovery has allowed them to remember Catherine and Charles Romer in a positive light and celebrate their lives.
