High School Football State Title Matchup Determined: 5A Teams Set to Face Off

The 5A State Championship Game will feature a matchup between two teams from the Desert West region, with Cactus and Desert Edge facing off next Friday in Tempe. Cactus secured their spot by upsetting ALA-Gilbert North in the semifinals, while Desert Edge avenged a regular-season loss to Verrado to reach the title game for the second consecutive year. This will be Cactus’ first 5A state championship appearance in four years, as they look to win their fourth state title. On the other hand, Desert Edge has a one-win record in previous state championship games, with their only title coming in 2015. Desert Edge leads the series between the two schools 5-4, with a win earlier in the season. The championship game will be held at Arizona State University’s Mountain America Stadium in Tempe on December 6, with both teams eager to claim the title.
