Opportunity for Arizona Football Players Unable to Return Home to Enjoy Thanksgiving Meal

The University of Arizona football team may not get to spend Thanksgiving with their families, but they come together as a big extended family to celebrate the holiday. With more than 80 of the 120 players being from out of state, traditional Thanksgiving meals with loved ones are often missed. Former players like Ricky Hunley reminisce about spending the holiday with teammates and being taken in as part of a special football family.

Arizona Athletics made it a priority to ensure that no player feels alone on Thanksgiving, hosting a breakfast meal for the team. The event allowed those without family in town to still have a celebration, while also giving those with family in town a central location to bond with their teammates. The team even sang happy birthday to one of their youngest teammates, creating a special moment for everyone involved.

As the Wildcats prepare to face off against the No. 16 Arizona State Sun Devils in the Territorial Cup game, the sense of unity and family within the team has them hyped up for the rivalry matchup. Despite their season coming to an end, an upset win over ASU could keep them out of the Big 12 championship game.

The focus on family and togetherness during the Thanksgiving holiday has strengthened the bond within the team and set the tone for their upcoming game. Fans can catch the action on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on Fox and stay updated by subscribing to the 13 News YouTube channel.
