The Arizona Cardinals were rumored to be interested in making multiple big-name trades during the NFL’s trade deadline, but ultimately only managed to acquire Baron Browning. The team was in search of pass rush help and were linked to players like Azeez Ojulari and Calais Campbell, the latter of whom was a former Pro Bowl player for the Cardinals. Campbell’s brother revealed on a radio show that the Cardinals, along with several other teams, had shown interest in acquiring the 38-year-old defensive lineman from the Miami Dolphins. Despite receiving offers from multiple teams, the Dolphins ultimately decided to keep Campbell. Campbell’s brother mentioned that the Dolphins turned down a fourth-round pick offer, showing how much they valued the veteran player. Campbell has had a productive season with the Dolphins, starting every game and posting stats of 36 tackles, five passes defensed, and four sacks. While a reunion with the Cardinals would have been a strong addition to their defensive line, questions about Campbell’s longevity and the high price tag likely played a role in Arizona’s decision not to pursue the trade further.
