One major trend identified is the increase in searches for in-person community building activities. Run clubs, chess clubs, social clubs, and book clubs have seen significant growth in searches, indicating a desire for real-life connections and interactions. Additionally, competitive activities like pickleball, padel, trivia, and modern lawn clubs are gaining popularity.
Another trend is the increase in searches for dopamine-boosting hobbies that provide a mood boost. Group classes for skills like songwriting, blacksmithing, dance, and sewing are on the rise, along with niche hobbies like pasta-making, latte art, and jewelry-making.
Grown-up getaways and retreats are projected to be a major trend for 2025, with searches for adult summer camps, postpartum retreats, fitness retreats, wellness retreats, and holistic retreats seeing a significant increase. These searches reflect a growing desire for opportunities to relax, heal, and connect with others.
Lastly, the report highlights the trend of hybrid hangouts, where businesses are combining activities with food and leisure. Searches for unique establishments like laundromat bars, bookstore and plant shops, book bars, gas station restaurants, and beer spas have seen a spike in interest. These trends indicate a shift towards more interactive and creative leisure experiences in the coming year.
