Arizona man arrested for threatening to kill President-elect Trump
An Arizona man, Manuel Tamayo-Torres, was arrested on Monday after making threats to kill President-elect Donald Trump in Facebook videos. Tamayo-Torres faces a felony charge of threatening the president-elect and made threats against Trump and his family. In the videos, he can be seen holding up a rifle and making direct threats to kill Trump and his family.
Court documents did not identify Trump by name but referred to him as “Individual 1,” a public figure and former president. Tamayo-Torres also faces charges for making false statements on federal forms while trying to purchase a gun.
The arrest comes after Tamayo-Torres posted threatening videos on Facebook, including one from a rally attended by Trump. It is unclear if Tamayo-Torres has legal representation at this time. Trump has expressed concern about assassination attempts and mentioned a previous incident during a rally in Pennsylvania.
